In 2017, we premiered this little play about the Dockfield area of Shipley in local pubs and homes (for details, see this page). Then in 2019, in collaboration with the Aire Rivers Trust, we brought it back for a short tour of the Upper Aire Valley – taking it to places like Silsden, Gargrave and Lothersdale. That was part of the pilot stage of ART’s DNAire project. Finally, in September 2021, as part of the main DNAire project phase, we staged a full-scale revival of the play, and toured it up the Aire valley on a canal boat from Leeds to Skipton, via Dockfield itself and other places in between. (We would have done the tour earlier, but there was a global pandemic…)
Anyway, to document and celebrate the tour, we made this little video…
The tour got great reactions from audiences and reviewers alike. Click here to read the excellent write-ups from Leeds Living and Culture Vulture. And below, you can even see a badly pirated clip of us appearing on BBC’s Look North! Enjoy…
