Junior Blue is a family-friendly version of our Blue Route boat tour which travels in the opposite direction… That is, participants join the boat at Shipley Wharf, where the “grown-up” Blue Route concludes, and travels through Shipley and then Saltaire to Hirst Lock. Going up in the lock, instead of down, you get the full spectacle of rushing water ahead of you…

Children are able to move about the boat, under parental supervision, and will have the opportunity to participate in on-board creative activities, as well as learning informally about the Leeds-Liverpool Canal and the Shipley/Saltaire area. The ride lasts about 45 minutes.

Junior Blue departs from the moorings on the towpath opposite Shipley Wharf (around the corner from the Noble Comb pub and the Ibis Hotel), and travel up to Hirst Lock, via Salts Mill. Please note that the journey is not a round-trip, but if desired you can easily walk back to the starting point along the towpath.
