Salt’s Waters (Audio Guide)

Salt’s Waters is an alternative heritage tour, combining words and music, which navigates watercourses large and small, in the district of Saltaire. It takes you west, from just outside Salts Mill, upstream via the River Aire, Loadpit Beck and Little Beck, to the ruins of Titus Salt Junior’s Milner Field mansion. You then return, downhill and downstream, via the Aire and the Leeds-Liverpool Canal.

To enjoy the tour, you will need:

1.    Our map leaflet, with full details of the walk. You can access and print it off via these links: full leaflet or map only. We can also send you a hard copy of the leaflet, if you drop a line to: stephenjb68@icloud.com

2.    The audio guide itself, which you can stream via this SoundCloud link, or on the player below. (Note: we used to offer this as a download, but the provider we were using has discontinued the service. If streaming is likely to be a problem for you when out on the walk, we can just send you the files – again, just email us at the address above.)

N.B. This Soundcloud version includes an ‘Introduction’ track as a short taster. This is designed to be heard before you undertake the walk itself.

The tour departs from a spot close to the entrance of Saltaire’s Visitor Information Centre. To begin, you need to position yourself at the bottom of Victoria Road, standing on the bridge over the canal. Stand on the side of the road closest to Salt’s Mill.

We hope you enjoy Salt’s Waters.
